Federal government whips emergency aid worth billions | Free Press

The federal government does not want to spoil it, but to praise it so that companies can cope with the difficult times of the corona pandemic.

Berlin (dpa) – The federal government has adjusted the billions in emergency aid for companies that have to close their businesses due to the partial closure of November. This applies to restaurants and bars, for example. Even freelancers like artists should get help, as well as hotels.

Economy Minister Peter Altmaier (CDU) wants to report on the details of the program on Thursday afternoon (5.30 pm). The finance ministers of the federal states are informed in advance.

Altmaier had said a week ago that it would not be spilled, but would be refilled, so that companies could cope with the situation. Finance Minister Olaf Scholz (SPD) spoke of “massive support services of this magnitude that were previously unknown.” Altogether, these are financial aid of up to ten billion euros for one month.

Support will also be given to companies indirectly affected by closures, such as restaurant and pub providers, for example.

The federal and state governments agreed to restrictions to break the second crown wave. From Monday to the end of November, restaurants, theaters, cinemas and gyms are mostly closed, and hotels can no longer accept tourists. Hotels should be considered directly affected companies in terms of aid.
