More disinfectants and less toilet paper produced | Free Press

Despite hamster purchases, toilet paper production is slightly declining. In return, noodle production is increasing a lot.

Wiesbaden (dpa) – Strong demand for disinfectants and pastes has boosted their production in Germany during the Crown crisis.

By contrast, toilet paper production fell slightly in the first nine months, despite purchases of hamsters at the start of the crisis, according to data released by the Federal Statistical Office on Wednesday.

According to the information, disinfectant production rose after strong growth, especially in spring, by an average of 80 percent compared to the first nine months of 2019.

According to the information, consumers often turned to pasta to quickly prepare a meal. From January to September 2020, an average of 20 percent more pasta was produced than in the same period last year. The production of toilet paper, which had been monopolized at the beginning of the crisis, increased in March and April. However, in the first nine months of the year, at 85,300 tonnes, it was 3.5 percent lower than the same period last year.
