Washington (AP) – The situation in the US job market has deteriorated again amid the escalating corona pandemic. In the week through Nov. 14, there were 742,000 new jobless claims, the Labor Department announced in Washington on Thursday.
In the previous week it had been 711,000 after a subsequent correction. Analysts expected an average of 700,000 requests.
The data gives a timely impression of the employment situation in the United States. Additionally, the weekly data provides a reference to the US government’s labor market report, which is released once a month.
The number of corona infections in the US is increasing rapidly. Therefore, several states have already imposed additional restrictions, among other things, on the hotel industry.
